The Next Football Dynasty

“We are chasing a dynasty.” Patrick Mahomes says after signing a record-breaking 10-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs possibly worth $503 million bucks on Monday, making it the biggest deal in sports history! The Super Bowl champion and MVP can be in Kansas City through 2031! From here there are two possible ways for this to the layout. It may have been an easier road for Mahomes and the KC Chiefs if he left them with some money to spend on other things. Because if you are going to be the next Patriots, thinking the Chiefs might be the Patriots and go to four Super Bowls in one decade and five in the next, you just aren’t thinking straight. The difference between the two is when it came to contract time Brady wanted what is good for the team and him. Mahomes chased the bag and left his team with just a slim 6.2 million dollars in cap space. You can still have an 11-5 record when there’s talent all over your lineup. The Pats did that in 2008 after Brady suffered a season-ending injury. But when you have to continuously give to that QB position? The roster gets so slim elsewhere that without the quarterback a team might go. Say, 2-14 after multiple seasons of success and double-digit win season as the Colts did in 2011 without Manning. But I believe in the Chiefs. Because sports have changed and some players play for the money and others play for the love of the game. So whoever doesn’t want to play on Patrick Mahomes’ squad is crazy. For example, Tyreek and Mahomes very possibly could be the next duo. Just like Edelman and Brady, and with Clyde Edwards Helaire running the backfield and receiving out of it. I can feel something insane coming with those two talents combined. It’s just too much to handle. But what makes Mahomes contract different from all others is the arm talent he possesses that no one else in the league is near him. As of right now, Lamar Jackson has the same talent gap of what he does best, scrambling. But there still are players in the league that are considered scrambling QBs and are put in the same category as Lamar like Russel Willson, Deshaun Watson, and Patrick Mahomes. But you can’t compare anyone’s arm talent to Patrick Mahomes. Patrick Mahomes arm talent is like you have never seen he can throw sidearm better than most QB in the gridiron and he is so unpredictable. Mahomes does what he wants when he is on the field and that is why Patrick Mahomes deserves this contract because he is a one of a kind player and talents will follow in his presence to KC.
