Even setting records for his county Ja still got no love until his senior year, where he got offered scholarships to 3 schools Maryland Eastern Shore, South Carolina State, and Duquesne. “Morant was unranked by every major recruiting service as a high school player. College recruiters didn’t notice him either”, until a Murray State coach, in town to watch another player, accidentally stumbled upon Morant in a gym while looking for a snack. When Morant stepped foot in Murray states gym he was an immediate presence averaging 13 points along with 6 assists and 5 boards a game and nearly a 50% field goal percentage. This was just the beginning for Ja. By Sophomore year Ja Morant had blossomed into debatably the best college player in the country. In the regular season averaging 25 points and a mind-blowing 10 assists per game and, with more confidence came Ja shooting behind the arc more which stretched his game even farther anyone knew he was a finishing playmaking shooter! But the Cinderella story to perfect cap off his incredible college story would be an incredible March Madness show. Morant knocked off 5 seed Marquette in a blowout as Morant entertained the world showing everything he can do.  In their next game, Morant faced FSU and continued to put on a show but couldn’t pull out the win. This March Madness showing boosted Morant’s odds to go top 5 and some people thought he should be drafted before Zion Williamson which at the beginning of the season people would laugh at. Ja Morant ended up being drafted second and selected to the Grizzlies where he continues to put on a show and is first in the running to win ROTY.
